why does the supercharger rattle and is that why the car dies sometimes?

They are not supposed to rattle, they do whine.

If rattling, remove supercharger belt, start engine and see if rattle continues, if not then a bearing/pulley on supercharger is bad.

If rattle continues then another problem, maybe a belt tensioner assy.
