1996 Pontiac Grand Prix starting my car

I was wondering if you could help me with this problem my car is having. When I go to start mt car, it starts as normal, but only for like 2 seconds, and then it dies out! And then I tried starting it again, it started, but this time it revved waaaay up, and then died out again? Does anybody know whats possibly going on, or could you point me in the right direction?

First check for vacuum leaks and then check fuel pressure with mechanical gauge.

Alright, I will try those two things out. Thank you very much for your help :) I appreciate it.

One other thing, might you know what would cause a car to do such a thing?

Could be a fuel pressure problem or a sticking IAC, vacuum leak, many things. Best approach is to eliminate one system at a time.

Check fuel, spark, if OK the look at sensors and idle control valves and EGR valve. Usually you can remove and clean them and it will help or fix the problem.
