Hello I have a 1998 pontiac grand am 2.4 twin cam engine. the Catalytic Converter hase came off the engine, now the part with the 4 screws is still intact. a friend of mine is going to try to repair it. we want to make sure if the part that came off was welded to the pipe or is there some other part that may have fallen off.? its hard to explain I will post a pic of the part of the Catalytic Converter that came off, if anyone knows of a part or if it just needs to be welded back on. also on that part with the 4 bolts, what happens if 1 bolt breaks? can it be done with 3 bolts.

It look like the lip here may have been reduced somehow or bent smaller from vibration and heat. IF those bolts came out (strange), it must have been pretty noisy for a while. Don't break any bolts...Just don't.

You may be able to put the flange back on and carefully peen the pipe to seat in the flange here.

You do

need a gasket in addition to the bolts.

You may need thses at the manifold:
