There is oil in the water reserve what is wrong and how can it be fixed?

Check the oil stick, any water? If not see if the tranny cooler lines attach to the radiator, if yes the cooler tank could be cracked internally, thus leaking tranny fluid into the radiator. If it turns out to be engine oil, you have either a cracked head or block, or a bad head gasket.
