Noises problem
2000 Pontiac Grand Am Automatic 164000 miles

I have a 2000 Grand am, my husband changed the belt on it a week ago and after changing it the car started making a awful squeling noise. Everyone told us that it was the tensioner that needed to be replaced so thats what we did, we replaced it. The problem is even though we changed the tensioner pulley the noise is still there we can't figure out whats wrong with it, any ideas what it could be?

Check belt tension, if Ok, then look for any contamination on belt or pulley, oil, coolant will cause the belt to squeal.

Use brake clean to clean pulley, it removes oil, coolant and does not leave a residue.
