When I drive about 100 miles or more at a time the service engine soon light comes on and the next stop light or stop sign I come to the car stalls. After the light comes on the car jerks a lot between shifting and when I go from reverse to forward and visa versa. When the needle gets below 1RPM it jumps around a lot and I can feel the motor of the car wanting to excel then stall and so forth. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the transmission or something else. I do a lot of inner city driving where the light never comes on and this doesn't happen. Please help me!

First you need to get the computer of the car scanned for trouble codes. Autozone does this for free. Then get back to us with the codes

P1404 EGR Valve Closed Pintle Position
P0101 Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Performance
The p1404 is usually a reprogram done at the dealer. But if the latest program has been installed, then it could be a possible EGR. You can try to remove the EGR and see if the pintle is sticking inside. If it is replace it. If all that is ok try this, disconnect the MAF sensor and drive it and see if your problem goes away. The EGR could cause this code also.
