Electrical problem
1999 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 122 K miles

Recently, my change engine oil light would not reset as before, despite several tries. So it is on all the time. More recently, another problem cropped up. After filling the gas tank, I noticed that sometimes the gas guage would go from a full reading to an empty reading, complete with warning light and chimes, then back to full. This only takes a moment, and it happens once every 5 minutes or so, but seems to be happening a little more frequently as the day has gone on. Are these two occurrences related? Does anyone have any ideas as to how to deal with these annoyances?

Try this for the oil change light reset
Key on engine off, depress gas pedal all the way to the floor three times. When light starts flashing, light is reset (do it quick )
fuel issue
This is a TSB

CONDITION
Some customers may comment that the fuel gauge reads empty when tank is full; and/or are experiencing erratic fuel gauge readings.
CAUSE
Usage of certain fuel formulations may result in high resistance outputs from the fuel level sensor, resulting in erroneous fuel gauge readings.
CORRECTION
Replace the existing ceramic fuel level sensor with service kit (P/N 25317986).
