1999 Pontiac Grand Am car gets hot very slowly

My 1999 grand am gets hot. It takes a good amount of time. Its never went into the red. It had a waterpump put in it 2 years ago. If you run the engine at higher RPM for a few, it will cool down some.
also, it loses coolant out the overflow from time to time and its always when it is fairly cool yet. It leaked this am and the coolant was just luke warm to the touch.
another thing, the radiator cap gets very hard to remove.

Try replacing the thermostat and see what happens

Is thier a trick to getting the thermostat out? Its under the exhaust manifold and I con only seem to get on one of the bolts

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Drain and recover the coolant. Refer to Service and Repair.
Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.

Remove the coolant inlet housing bolts through the exhaust manifold.
Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
Remove the coolant inlet housing stud from the oil pan.
Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
Remove the splash shield.
Remove the bolts from the transaxle-to-engine block brace.
Remove the coolant housing pipe.
Remove the thermostat.
Clean the mating surfaces.

TY I appreciate the time it took to post that. Unfortunatly, there is one bolt. The drivers side tstat housing bolt, that I cannot seem to get a socket on.
Off to the shop for this one ! TY again'
