1994 Pontiac Grand Am my car only moves in reverse

My 1994 grand am only moves in reveres I passed somone a while back and I had to swerve to miss somone in the otherlan and I think I might of brocken a link or somthing came loose in my transmisioin dose this mean I need a new trans misioin or can I just pop a part back on and it will work when I put it in drive 2 or 1 in just sits still and goes nowhere te car just revs up btu works fin in reverse.

It sounds like it is a linkage problem and you dont need to replace the transmission. Open the hood and look down at the transmission and have someone move shifter and watch to see if transmission linkage moves in every gear. Hope this helps

Get your car to a tranny repair shop quick because it needs to be rebuilt. Most likely you have lost some teeth in the linkage and no you cant just pop in a part, the tranny has to be taken out of your car and rebuilt now. I would do it before you loose the last gear you have left, Reverse! I know this because I work on cars, I have rebuilt a couple mercury sables. I wont touch a tranny to save my life nor do I have a engine hoist required to lift one either.
