Its actually a Pontiac G5 which is probably not sold in the US, it's the equivalent of a Chevy Cobalt.

someone might have put cigarette ashes or other ashes

in the gas tank of my car, it has a full tank of gas at the

time it was done, will it damage the engine or any other

part? Can I drive it like that for a little while since it has a

full tank? And what do I need to have it done? And

approx how much will it cost?

Really hard to say because we don't know how much has been added. It can plug the sock in the tank and cause a fuel pump failure.

Cost is relative to the area. The tank should probably get dropped and cleaned if you seriously think this happened. I would guess 3 hours of labor. If the shop charges $100/hour, that's $300.

Well I'm not really sure how much or if they even put ashes in the gas tank, since it was vandalized and there were ashes in the opening around the outside of the gas cap I thought it was strange. The thing is that I been driving it like that for about 37 miles now and it hasn't stalled or anything I don't know how long it will take to actually notice. It's not so much about the money to have it repaired it's more about finding a decent place to take it to, the dealer is too expensive. It's not under warranty and the insurance doesn't cover it, since it's below the deductible amount.

I guess if it were me, I would get a locking gas cap and ride it out. Since you don't know if there is even a problem, then see what happens. IF the fuel pump does fail, there is a chance it could be covered under the factory warranty. 3yr/36,000 miles
