Just purchased 85 GT fiero. Have had 10amp fuse blow after about 3 hrs of driving. It was fuse #2 which is 10amp battery(fuel pump relay-oil pressure switch feed) fuse. Would love to know how to cure this issue. Where to begin and where to end. On the road replaced with 20 amp and drove the next 10 hours with no problem, but don't want to melt it down:) After making trip from San Diego To Sacramento parked it Drove about 5 miles and 20 amp blew. Put 10amp back in and drove 10 miles home and no problem. Don't want to press my luck or melt my fathers day present. Please help thanks in advance Hap Oswald

Hi
I own 3 fieros, and specialize in their repair in KC MO.

I'll be right back, after I check a few things.

Ok,
the fuel pump could be failing, but unlikely.
The oil pressure sending unit could be failing, but unlikely.

Insulation on the wires going to the fuel pump could be bare and touching metal and shorting out, that's possible.

But what I really want you to check,

on the passenger side of the car, remove the cover over the battery.

Now, in the space between the battery and the engine is the oil pressure switch.

See the plug on top of the switch?
Follow the wires, i've seen those wires get rearranged incorrectly and the pulley for the water pump rubs a spot through the insulation and the wire shorts to the water pump pulley intermittently.

****SHAMELESS PLUG***
also contact me if you need any used parts.

GOOD LUCK
