if the the lighter goes out ,is that a fuse that needs replacing?

most of the time it is just a fuse some cars have 2 fuse panels my 95 does one on the driver side when u open the door and one on the passenger side at the kickpanel if replaceing the fuse doesnt work my next tep would be to replace the lighter socket itself
