We just replaced the battery and alternator and the van still dies when stopping. What do I need to do to fix it?

Hi lilnick1978,

Thank you for the donation.

I would like to understand the following:
1. Engine capacity. 2.4, 3.0 or 3.3 liters?
2. Was problem there prior to replacement of battery?
3. Are you able to restart after it stalls?
4. During driving, is there any power loss etc?
5. What is the idling speed?
6. Does stalling occurs regardless of whether A/C is on or off?

1. Engine is 3.0 litres

2. Yes this is the 2nd or 3rd battery and 2nd alternator.

3. Sometimes able to restart but usually have to jump it.

4. No power loss while driving just when stopping.

5. I'll have to get back to you on the idle speed.

6. Stalls whether or not A/C is on or off.

Do you mean to say battery power is drained and jump starting gets it moving again?

This seems a charging problem and you should test the charging voltage over prolonged periods. Could be the alternator is no turning fast enough due to loose beltings or a faulty crank pulley.
