Transmission problem
1997 Plymouth Voyager 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I went to back up my car and I heard a sound then I had no reverse but it does go into other gears, what could be the problem and should I not drive it this way? I just got hub bearings replaced so I didnt know is it a transmission problem or something with the tires. When I went to back it up the last few days my tires sounded like they was on ice and skided as I backed up/ thanks Please help!

Hi there,

I feel that you have suffered a fairly major transmission failure, from what you have said I sounds as if the transmission has been slipping in reverse before this failure, I would not drive it as the oil may be contaminated with metal fragments from any possible failed component, and this could be detrimental to the remainder of the transmission, have it towed to a trans specialist for a test & report, start here.
