No matter what I have tried, I can not get the drivers side slding door to open for me. I have looked high and low on line for a possible answer, but it seems impossible to find one. When we bought our 97 Voyager, it did not come with any manuals so my husband and I are now left clueless as to how to get the door to slide open and close anymore. Please tell me you can help or give some insight to what might be causing it to not open.

I seem to recall a childproof latch device somewhere on the inside of the door. A little black protruding thing somewhere that you switch.

I've looked for the child latch and you can not see if from the inside. Secondly, why would the child latch prevent you from opening the sliding door from the exterior of the vehicle? It should open from the outside regardless and it does not. There is a sticker that reads the door will not open from the outside or inside of the vehicle as long as the gas lid is open. Yet my lid is closed and it still will not open? THis is the problem. What is causing it to think the gas lid is open? Where is the sensor? How can I fix this issue?

Is there anything on the gas cap door that looks like a pushbutton switch that's depressed when it is closed?

None what so ever! It's the darndest thing I've ever seen. The previous owner said that this happened to them and that it was a recall by plymouth but I can not find anything online regarding this. I've been told its due to a safety latch on the gas tank? Which when broken keep the door shut? A friend told me that a cable was attached to the gas tank somehow to that over the door? This makes me think this could somehow be bypassed?

Dodge caravan. Side rear passenger door won't open. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks. Ps won't unlock.

This happened to me once. It was on the driver's side. The gas cap door has a rod attached that locks the side door and prevents it from being opened. It's there to stop the side door from hitting the gas door when it's open. The rod had worked loose and needed to be reattached.
