My 1196 voyager rallye will not shift into higher gear. The RPM's are at over 1 at start of car in park. At 50 mph the RPM's are at 5. I can hear that the shifting is not happening. Other than that, regular temp, oil ok tranny fluid ok.
Can you help?

Hi:
It could be a bad shift solenoid, but I would think it would have set the check engine light. Has the light ever come on for you? Also, since it's not shifting, make sure you don't over rev the engine and cause damage to it.

I had this problem once, but also the odometer didn't work. What it was was somehow the battery had leaked onto the output sensor on the transmission and fried the sensor. I had to take it to a transmission shop.
