Engine Performance problem
1992 Plymouth Voyager Front Wheel Drive Automatic 185000 miles

I have noticed my car is smoking lately. It seems to do it mostly after it idles. Like after a stop light or a drive through, etc.
I was told by a friend to put some fuel injector self clean stuff in it but it smokes less now but is still smoking. How do I sdervice the fuel injectors? Or what might help the problem?

Explain to your friend that cleaning the fuel supply system isn't going to stop stuff from getting into the engine to be burned.

Which engine do you have and what color is the smoke? If it's black, too much fuel is getting into the engine; you don't want more. If it's white, antifreeze is being burned, typically from a leaking head gasket. If it's blue, and you have the 3.0L Mitsubishi engine, suspect exhaust valve guides have dropped down in the cylinder heads. The dealer has special tools to make the repairs that will prevent this from happening in the future. This job was usually taken care of when the drive train was still under warranty. It's hard to believe this didn't start until now.

There are other causes of smoke but you'll need to see a mechanic who can perform tests and make observations to determine the cause.
