I need to know if I should replace the PCM in my 98 Lincoln Continental. It will drive for about 30 to 45 minutes and then the check transmission light will come on, once I turn the car off and turn it back on it goes away and I can drive for another 30 minutes or so. It recently just started randomly stalling out at stoplights and the RPMs were dropped really low. I was thinking it may be the idle sensor, but the other problems obviously point to something bigger. Please help if you can!

That's the thing is I can't read the engine codes. Every time I hook up the computer it tells me that it can't read it, and throws generic codes up. Any other ideas?

Then have it checked for a poor connection someplace either at connection or if you have an adapter check that. It may be a wire problem and check for a blown fuse under hood.
