I was driving my car, and it just quit running, then it wouldn't start, it would turn over fine but wouldn't start. My security light on dash was blinking a 1-6 code.

The security light blinking a 1-6 code, it’s an indication that the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) is preventing the engine from starting.

The 1-6 code indicates that the PATS system has detected an issue with the key or the communication between the key transponder and the PATS module.

Since the keys rarely go out, I would say the PATS module is having an issue, but you should check the fuses first.

Here is a guide to help:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

I have listed the fuses to check in the diagrams below, if the fuses are okay, I would replace the PATS module which I have included instruction for as well. You can get a preprogrammed unit by searching Google or Ebay. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
