Getting code p0761 causing limp mode. After reset car is still in limp mode with no check engine light, however check engine light does come on later. Transmission flush has already been done. I read a similar issue on here and he said he found broken wires outside the harness at the main connection. Does anybody know what wires he can be talking about?

Good morning.

If it was electrical, the code would not reset. It would return instantly.

P0761
Descriptor
Probable Causes
Shift Solenoid S3
Shift Solenoid SLT
Transmission Assembly
Valve Body

You will need an advanced scan tool to monitor the live data in the trans and pressure gauges to check and see if the pressures are correct.

I had a mechanic look at it when the check engine light, VSC, and traction light all first came on. It was only shifting to fourth at that time and no further. He scanned my car and got two codes. P0761 was one and I forgot the other but it was for shift solenoid three and four. He tested the sensors and said he wanted to change out sensors for shift 1 and 2, then sensors for shift 3 and 4. But then told me it is best to get a new valve body because changing those sensors might not help which will cost $4,000.00. But now I am only getting codes p0761. Other codes that shows up a little later are c1241 and c1233.

I think that is a very expensive guess. Did he verify they were bad by dropping the pan and manually checking them?

He can also use a scan tool to manually shift the transmission as well.

Did he do either of these?

I do not believe he did any of those. All he said was he tested the solenoid. Which I do not know how when it did not look like my pan was dropped. He also would not let me stay by the garage shop to see what he was doing.

Sounds like you need a second opinion from another shop that will prove there results.

Get your car out of there and go to a shop that will do a proper diagnostic.
