My vehicle running a vq25dd recently started jerking when at or around the 3,000 rpm's. Mark and the check engine light has since come on. At first I thought it was oil or my spark plugs so I checked and changed both sets of parts, that still made no change. So I changed the fuel type I had been using (previously running 91) to 95 and still no change. I managed to get the error codes out which are p0340 (cam positioning sensor) and p1110 (valve timing solenoid/sensor?). Has anyone else had these issues and if so what were their fixes?

Hi Dean,
When both these codes are triggered together, it means an error with the cam timing has been detected.
Possible causes are
1. Lack of oil supply or low oil pressure to the variable cam control circuit. Low oil pressure can cause the timing chain tensioner to be weakened thus resulting in excessive slack of the timing chain. Both the above would result in the valve timing going out of sync and triggering the codes.
2. Excessive slack of timing chain. A worn timing chain or tensioner would result in the camshafts going out of sync and triggering the codes.

I would suggest starting with checking oil level, quality and pressure. Next to check would be the timing chain condition. Let us know how it goes.
