I have changed the injector and the pig tail continuity tested the wires to the ECM. I am still getting open circuit P0204 code. Clear it and it comes back immediately. What am I missing?

Hi,

Are you getting power to the injector? You indicated there is continuity, but we need to confirm power. The injectors all get power from a common source and are spliced together. It isn't odd for a splice to fail.

Each injector has a dark green wire with an orange tracer. (See pic below) With the key in the run position (Engine Off), each injector should have battery voltage at that wire. Please confirm.

If there is power, then we need to see if the PCM is providing a ground path to complete the circuit.

Here is what to do: Take a test lamp and attach the alligator clip to the battery positive. Probe the signal ground wire (light blue with a brown tracer) while you have a helper crank the engine. The test lamp should strobe on and off.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

Okay, with test lamp the green with orange wire has power with ignition in run position. Now with the ignition on but not running the light blue with brown pulses.
I tested another injector plug and it works as it's supposed to, green with orange wire has power with ignition in run position, the light blue with brown pulses when engine cranks.

I have traced the light blue w/ brown wire from injector to PCM and there are no breaks or shorts in the wire. So now I am really lost.

Thanks,
Les

Hi,

We must have an open circuit at some point. Do you feel the misfire? Also, take a look at the attached pics below. They are the diagnostics for this specific code and cyl-4.

Take a look and let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

Take care,

Joe

Thank you for your help. After all this looks like I need a new PCM.
I have one on the way if that does not work, not sure what I will do.

Well, been through two vendors had to send both back for reprograming. According to my VIN my truck is supposed to be a manual transmission, but it is an automatic. I installed them and the truck would not shift gears. I hope they can reprogram them correctly for the automatic.
Will let you know when it comes back, and I get it installed.

Hi,

Wow, that is odd. Have you always owned the vehicle? Look up under the dash and see if there is evidence that a clutch pedal was once present.

Let me know. Also, let me know the VIN. I'm interested in seeing if they are correct.

Take care,

Joe
