The check engine light came and she went to Autozone to get a code. They pulled a P0200 code, supposedly an injector issue. She had the taken to a Kia service center to further diagnose the issue. They said they re-flashed the PCM software to see if the issue cleared. It did not. However, what they did say was that she needed to replace the lower intake manifold. How could this be? What does a P0200 code have to do with a manifold issue or are they just trying to dupe her into spending $800 for a repair job?

Thank you

We don't list that code are you sure it's correct? Auto parts can scan for free for correct code. We do list a p200a which you might want to check it's carbon in intake manifold. That may be the reason they are telling you it needs to be removed or replaced. After check for tsb's there is one on this and i'm sending a PARTIAL OF THE TSB in a pic. The rest of it must be done with a pro scanner. It may be linkage held up as well. Also check the battery for condition including load test as this may be part of the cause if the valve is replaced there is a relearn procedure that a scanner must be used to relearn it
