So I just bought this van like 5 months ago. But when I sit at a traffic light or go through a drive thru the van starts to get hot so I turn on the heater. But the other day just got on the freeway and about 5 miles I noticed the temperature was pegged out on hot. So I immediately pulled over let it cool. Then filled with antifreeze and water, bleed the system and it worked. But today it did the same thing. Please help.

Good afternoon,

Since you had to add coolant and bleed the system, it sounds like you have a leak. You will need to pressure test the system to determine the source of the leak.

I would also recommend replacing the thermostat as well since it has overheated.

This engine has many common places for leaks. The intake manifold is common, the water pump is common and head gaskets are the most common.

Do the pressure test and let us see where the leak is located.
