Hi, so my car has started overheating a lot lately and we took out the thermostat and replaced a busted tube but it's still leaking in the front center. When we squeeze the hose it doesn't feel as if any coolant is moving through. I drove it yesterday but it made it a mile and all the water/coolant had leaked out causing me to barely get it back home. It's sitting out in my driveway right now. We hooked it up to a code reader and it didn't throw any codes for a water pump but however threw out p0014 and p0024. I don't think those have anything to do with my car overheating though but I know they are very important to get fixed just not sure how to fix it. I can't afford a mechanic as I'm a single mom barely making it already but I've heard it's very hard to change a water pump on my car due to the timing chain. Could it possibly be something else besides a water pump causing the leaking and overheating? I know since the hoses feel like nothing is flowing through them that it's more than likely the water pump but if so, is there anything else I can do (a possible solution I can pour into the car to help it) or anything that would help make it run just a little while longer until I can get the money up for a mechanic? Thanks!

Hello, I'm Danny.

Yes, it sounds like your water pump is failing or defective and not providing enough flow to cool the engine. Also, yes those two codes are related to the water pump not providing enough cooling. To fix all this you will have to have the water pump replaced. I've attached a picture below of the price of a water pump from AutoZone. Maybe you can find someone you know to replace it for you inexpensively. Here is a tutorial for you to view on how to replace:

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any further questions on this. Thanks for using 2CarPros.
