We baught a used Nissan quest in a private sale. First issue was a beyond dead battery due to it just sitting in a garage for 6 years. No key FOB was provided. After the battery change the anti theft goes off when I unlock a door with a key, and there is no reset that I can see in the van. Have heard to unlock truck with the key, and this does not work. Only a battery disconnect shuts off and resets this alarm so we can drive. But does not fix the problem as a whole. We tryed a universal remote and it did not sync with the van. What can I do to fix or even disable the anti theft? I don't nessisarily need the anti theft on this vehical. So it won't be an issue to disable it all together. I have a feeling it is malfunctioning to some degree, as we can't resetit by the normal means

Hello and welcome to 2CarPros. What I'd like to know is if we talking about a factory system, or an aftermarket system. The way to tell is the sound of it. If it just beeps the horn, then it is stock. If it makes all kinds of weird, really loud noises, then it's aftermarket.

If it's stock, then you really can't remove or bypass it. It's programmed into the vehicle computers, so whatever the issue is has to be addressed. If it's aftermarket, then you can usually disable it fairly easily. Just look for an out of place looking toggle switch (probably under the dashboard on the driver's side) and flip it off. If that doesn't do it, raise the hood and look for a horn/megaphone looking thing and clip its wires. Presto! You're done.

Let us know what happens. We'll go from there as necessary. Thanks for using 2CarPros. Good luck!

Harry
