Hi,

I have an Opel Vectra. The car was built in 1992, has a mileage of 160000km and an 1.6 engine. When I turn the steering wheel while I'm driving the car makes a lot of sound. This sound is coming from on of the front bearings I suppose. Can you tell me how I replace the bearings? Tanks a lot and greetings from belgium!

Yep, when the bearing hubs go out they will make this kind of noise. Here is how the job is done.

REAR HUB/BEARING

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly and brake drum. Do not hammer brake drum since damage to bearing may result.
2. Remove four hub/bearing assembly to rear axle attaching bolts, then the hub/bearing assembly from axle. The upper rear hub attaching bolt may not clear brake shoe when removing hub and bearing assembly. Partially remove hub and bearing assembly prior to removing this bolt.
3. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten hub to axle attaching bolts to specifications. Use care not to drop hub/bearing assembly since damage to bearing may result.
