I had the same problem with my van. The leads (wires) to the crankshaft sensor on the side of the engine block were bare because they pass very close to the exhaust pipe. Over time the heat form the exhaust destroys the insulation and the wires are bare. When you accelerate the wire fall back on the exhaust pipe, grounding them out and causing misfire. I replaced the one on the side of the engine block, much better, but still had a problem. There is also one behind the damper pulley I replaced it and after that it runs perfect. One thing I did was heat insulate the wires from this happening again. It's a expensive fix at a shop. You can get to both through the right front wheel well if you want to fix it yourself. Bit of a pain to do but possible.
