I have a 97 Bonneville with the 3.8 SeriesII
It has a plastic upper intake.
Does yours have plastic upper?
If so, the gasket goes bad and lets coolant fill the block with water. Hydrolock
Is your coolant low? Oil have water in it?
Same thing happened to me.
No big deal, fixable.
The part should actually be changed like a timing belt.
You could pull the spark plugs, if it cranks, that's it.
I bought the parts myself and had a mechanic
install it.
It happened 10k ago at 135k.
My car seems no worse for wear.
