We have been told that we will soon have to replace the rack in our steering. My husband feels it because I am an 'agressive' driver on our poor roads (you haven't seen poor city roads until you've lived here!) Is this something will go because of the age and mileage of the vehicle or because of poor driving? He doesn't want to purchase another vehicle for fear of me wrecking that one! Signed, the Rack Wrecker! :)

A steering rack will eventually wear just like any other part of your car. And if this is the first time your vehicle has need a steering rack in 240K miles, I'm surprised.

Now having said that, rough roads will always cause a vehicle to wear faster than a car driven on smooth roads.
And aggressive driving will quicken that even further.
