Electrical problem
1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass 6 cyl Automatic

Hello,

I have a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser S. The rear defroster/defogger switch in the instrument panal comes on by itself. Sometimes I can turn it off for a few seconds, but it comes back on. When I turn it off it feels like it isn't catching or locking off. Because it's running constantly, the ceiling fabric above the rear defrosters is coming loose. I've tried to find a replacement part online but haven't had any luck. Is there a way to repair the switch?

Thank you

Hi:
The switch is non repairable and needs to be replaced. Most likely you will need to contact a dealer for it.

Hi, I took your advice and called a dealer to see if they could get the part. To my surprise they gave me a different part number than the auto parts store had given. I checked eBay and found a new one for half the price. Also bought a repair manual. Thanks for your help.
