When I crank my car it cranks but it will sometimes shut right back off. Sometimes before it shut off my rpm goes up and dwn and my car begin jerkin back and forth. It also happens when I'm driving, my rpm goes up and down wildly, my car jerks back and forth and if I dont step on the gas it will shut off. I took it to an auto shop and couldn't find the problem they just changed my ignition system, put in a new fuel pump, cleaned out my fuel sytem, and put a new throttle sensor on it. None of it worked so I was wondering if someone could tell me what the problem could be?

My first guess would be the throttle position sensor (TPS). Is that what they replaced? Have you had the computer scanned for trouble codes?

I took the car to a shop and they said they couldn't check my engine sensors until my check engine light come on. My check engine light isn't on. So could the problem be something besides a sensor on my motor?

The only thing I can suggest is look for a vacuum leak and check to see if the catalytic converter seems partially plugged. If you go to a nationally recognized parts store and ask them to check it even though the light isn't on, they should. Even though the light is off, there could be a code stored.

Let me know what you find.
