1998 Olds. Aurora, 107,000 mls. My car idles at about 2500 rpm's when its started, it's really loud and recently I've heard light sqeeling. After it warms it's fine but somtimes the rpm gage goes all wacky, jumping around like it's not attached to anything at all and the service vehicle soon advisory pops up on the dash. How serious is it? Please help.

You are probably getting an idle error, but have the codes scanned at any auto parts store for free.

High idles are usually caused by a vacuum leak, check all the vacuum lines. Although the Idle Air Control Valve controls idle, an idle that high would indicate a vacuum leak.
