I can't get my car out of PARK. If I insert a screwdriver into the switch below the shift lever, I can change gears. However, by doing this, my brakes won't release and drag while driving. I replaced the shifter and switch and have not fixed the problem. What else do I need to do?

hi your shift lock should have nothing to do with your brakes two diff probs. sounds like the brake switch is bad.the switch that turns your brake lights on also releases the shift lock.
