Oil Pressure Sensor?

The truck listed above is a 2500HD 4WD, it has a check engine light, accompanied by 0 OP on the panel gage. The dipstick shows the crankcase is serviced up to full. From what I can discover it looks as if the xmitter is at the rear of the engine, behind the throttle body - a real delight to access. Is there somewhere I can plumb in a direct reading gage to see if there actually is or is not oil pressure, so I can narrow it down to the sensor or pump? I'm assuming it's the transmitter because after a few minutes running there is no lifter noise which I figured would indicate actual absence of hydraulic oil pressure?

There is no additional oil pressure port to insert a manual gauge. You will need to remove the sensor to install the gauge. There are special tools that can help in the removal of the sensor which I have included in the images below. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Thanks, Ken, with my decrepit worn-out old body I cannot contort myself to get to the sensor from above and have no lift that would allow access from below. I have an appointment with a local shop on Thursday, I'll let you know what they find.

That would be great, thanks for getting back to me. That sensor is in a tough spot for sure.

Yeah, it was the sensor, found a local small shop with a good rep, finishing up the R&R as I type. Thank you, Ken.
