No oil pressure, changed the timing belt and now I’m not getting oil to the engine. Checked the oil pressure and there isn’t any.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

When you replaced the timing belt, by any chance did you remove the oil pump? If so, did you use a gasket to replace it or a sealant? I have seen problems where sealant is used and it blocks the oil passages. Take a look at the pic I attached. It is where I am referring to. Also, if you removed the pump, did you make sure it realigned with the guide pins?

Let me know.

Welcome back:

If this wasn't a problem prior to replacement of the belt, the only other thing I can think of is the oil pressure regulator was damaged. Oil is pulled from the oil pan into the pump. The pump forces oil under pressure to the oil filter. A regulator valve mounted in the front cover oil outlet regulates oil pressure and vents excess back to the inlet side of the oil pump.

Now, the regulator valve is located on the oil pump and faces upward. I have attached two pics. The first is simply an exploded view of the pump, engine, pick-up tube and so on. The second pic shows the oil pressure regulator valve. At this point since the pump wasn't removed, either something is holding it stuck open and it is venting oil back into the inlet side of the pump. As a result, you have no pressure to the engine.

I hate to say this, but you need to uncover the pump again and inspect that component for damage. Take a look at pic 2 for location.

Please note that I am assuming the oil pan was not moved which could have caused a leak in the pick-up tube.

Let me know if this helps, what you find, or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
