While idling and driving my oil pressure gauge drops to zero and immediately goes back to normal. RPM doesn't seem to matter it is completely random. The gauge will also start to go to zero and immediately back to normal. It does it while both accelerating and decelerating. I have checked the oil and it is full. I can't hear any ticking sounds or knocks when it does it. Is it most likely the pressure sensor or is it more probable at 258,000 miles the oil pump is failing?

May just be a faulty sender, but to be sure get the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge, test at cold idle, hot idle and hot at 1500rpm, if in doubt post the readings for evaluation.
