Is it possible to pinch or damage oil lines when replacing high pressure steering line? My oil pressure gauge is reading 50 psi instead of 40 psi added quart of oil because it was low. Gauge then read 40 psi, but after few minutes of driving pressure rose back up to 50 psi. Not sure why.

Good afternoon.

The power steering line has no connection to the oil pressure in the engine.
The oil gauge is electrically controlled by a sensor. There should be no connection between the two.

As far as the pressure, your readings are normal. As far as the drop in pressure, I would not be concerned about it. If you are that concerned, change the oil and filter and see if it returns to the reading.

Adding the one quart of oil should not affect the reading at all.

I was aware that there was no connection between the two. Just making sure that the installation of the new power steering pressure hose did not slice or puncture one of the oil lines. Checked engine and ground everything is dry and oil level is correct. Thanks for the information!
