I am replacing the compressor, accumulator, and orifice tube in my van. When I got the new compressor, it says it comes with 2 ounces of PAG oil in it. After looking it up on ProDemand, It says that the total oil capacity is 11 ounces. And If you replace the accumulator, to drain the oil out of it and add in 2 ounces plus however much you drained out. When I removed the accumulator, there was not a drop of oil that spilled out. Nor was there when I removed the compressor. The odd thing is, ProDemand says that the OE replacement Denso compressor comes with 8 ounces of oil in it.

So, how much oil do I add? It's very confusing, and I think the system might be entirely dry beside the UV dye I put in.

Hello, I'm Danny.

Just a quick question first. Does your van have rear A/C as well as front? Let me know and we'll go from there. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Yes, I'm sorry I forgot to add this. It does have the rear A/C option.

Also, the old compressor has a purple sensor on the back of, held in by a snap-ring. The new compressor simply has a block-off plate held in by a snap-ring. Should I take the sensor and move it to the new compressor?

Hello again.

Yes, just remove the snap ring and transfer the sensor. Also, yes you are correct that the entire system will hold 11 ounces of PAG oil. I would put in all 11 ounces personally because i'm sure it hardly came with any oil in it and you are replacing the accumulator. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

Thanks! Do I add in the full 11 ounces, or just 9 because of the 2 already in the compressor.

Hello again.

Were you able to verify 2 oz in the compressor? I would add 10 to the system to be safe. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

Thank you! It worked and I got the system charged up. The only thing that is a tad concerning is when I charged the system with 3.10 pounds of refrigerant, the low side pressure was 65 PSI, and the high side was 330 PSI. That seems a little too high does it not?

Hello again.

After replacing the components did you vacuum the system to remove all air from the system?

Hello gain.

Have you stuck a thermometer in the dash vents with the system on max A/C with highest blower setting to see what the temperature is? Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
