Odometer Drive Gear broke again?

I've ordered and replaced the odometer drive gear, and when I test drove the car it worked for exactly 1/10th of a mile and I think it broke again. I still have to pull the cluster again to verify. Any possible reason why this would break again so quickly. I made sure to lube the gears and checked to make sure I didn't break it while installing it. Scratching my head on this one.

Yes, this happens when the odometer cluster itself has a broken internally which takes out the drive gear, this is rare. I would get a rebuilt cluster or a used odometer. I don't think they service the odometer separately, but you never know. Here is how to change the cluster out for anyone coming to this post and not knowing how the job is done. Check out the images (below). Please let us know how it goes.

It just wasn't seated correctly. Fixed now all is good.
