Starts then shuts off right away. I replaced the high-pressure fuel pump along with the fuel pump and throttle body. All used parts and there seems to be gas mixing in the oil. Please help. Thanks

There are a couple things that will cause this, but we need to start with why you think there is fuel in the oil.

Are you smelling fuel in the oil? Have you pulled the dipstick and checked the oil level? If this is the case the oil will most likely be over filled.

At this point we will need to change the oil and check the compression on all cylinders.

Here are a couple guides that will help with this:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-engine-compression

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-change-engine-oil-and-filter

I suspect you have a large amount of blow by and if this is causing the compression to be low then the engine may be cutting off, so we need to rule this out first and foremost.

Let me know what questions you have on this, and we can go from there. If you have other info on why you are seeing fuel in the oil, let me know.

Thanks

Sorry. Blow by is when combustion gases get past the piston rings and into the crank case.

A quick easy way to check this is to remove the oil fill cap and see if there is pressure coming out of the cap. However, this is hard to check when the engine is not running long.

So, I would suggest we start with checking the compression and checking the oil level because when you have blow by, it allows not only the pressure that builds in the combustion chamber but fuel as well.

You fix blow by with an engine rebuild and replace the rings of the engine or replace the engine.

However, I would suggest we confirm this by checking the compression before we get to that extent.

As for the recall, unfortunately there are no recalls out for this issue which would allow you to get this covered by Kia.

Let me know if you can get the compression readings and we can go from there.
