My car listed above (SE) will shift through first, second, and third and then it feels like it shifts into over drive. But I can’t drive over 60 mph because the RPM's get so high like it’s not in overdrive. I do have a check engine light that has code for the PCM. There are no other codes and no other issues except for not having over drive. Just not sure what to do or where to start.

Hello,

Can you pull the Direct Trouble Code(DTC) or "code" for us. Here is a link for you to go to if you are unfamiliar with how to do this:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Please go through this guide, if needed, and get back to with the DTC. We will have specific instructions for you then.

Thanks,
Alex

The exact code it showed on my code reader was P0601 and it said something along the lines of the malfunction of the PCM.

Hello,

That is correct. Your vehicle's Power-train Control Module (PCM) has an internal error and either needs to be replaced or rebuilt. In the diagrams down below I have included the diagnostic troubleshooting guide for your vehicle for DTC P0601, as well as the instructions for the removal and replacement of the PCM. If you purchase a replacement PCM, you will have to have your vehicle's ignition key reprogrammed to the new PCM at either the dealership or a locksmith. There are services available on EBAY for a reasonable price where you send in your vehicle's PCM and they can rebuild it and send it back to you. This will cut out having to have your ignition keys reprogrammed. Please keep us informed as to how things progress.

Thanks,
Alex

Awesome, I appreciate the help, but will rebuilding my PCM fix the issue of not having overdrive and not being able to exceed 60 mph?

Hello again,

Direct Trouble Code (DTC) or "code" P0601 is for an internal short, or checksum error in your PCM. I sent along the DTC diagnostic troubleshooting guide from Dodge, your vehicle's manufacturer, on DTC P0601 in my last reply. It tells you that the PCM is bad and has to be replaced or re-manufactured. There are no other options. Please get back to us with what you decide to do.

Thanks,
Alex
