Hey guys,

I have a 2002 Xterra 2WD with the V6 and am having some issues with the transmission. The car was bucking at cruising speeds on the highway, RPMs going up and down but the speedo stayed steady. An SES light came on and I ran it and got the code P0744 - A/T TCC Signal.

Do you know what could be causing that? I have read around online and a couple of things I have came up with are a bad TCC Solenoid, which requires the entire pack to be replaced, or maybe just dirty fluid/filter.

I'm going to change the filter this weekend, as the car is parked at my parents house about an hour away from me, but I was wanting to see if anyone else has had this same issue and how they resolved it.

Thanks!

Hi there,

99% of the time it will be a faulty solenoid, but as a first option a service would not hurt, but do not be surprised if the code re sets.

Would that solenoid be expensive to have replaced? I have basically done everything to a car other than transmission work, so unless it is really difficult I will probably try to do it myself.

I'd say i'm an avid-DIY'er, done everything from mounts all the way to timing belts and crank shafts, but I've always been nervous with an A/T so i've never done anything on one.
