This summer I took my car into the dealership shop to have the brakes looked at. Three days later, my ABS light came on. I tried calling them back and leaving a message, but got no response. I looked at the service report and it said that I had refused a brake fluid flush (but I hadn't). It should have been done. I took the car to have the oil and brake fluid changed to a different shop. Now that it's icy, I need my ABS to be functioning. I took it back to the dealership shop and they said that a wire in the right rear wheel speed sensor was broken. How could this have happened only three days after checking the brakes. Shouldn't they have noticed it? Could they have broken it? From reading online, I understand that brakes can be delicate to work on. Help would be great!

First, at 50K the brake system didn't need flushed. That is a money maker for them. Next, brakes are not hard to work on and are not easy to break. Third, yes they could have damaged the sensor wiring if they were not careful.

Overall, the brake fluid had nothing to do with the sensor, so if they try to blame that on you, they are wrong. The sensor, on the other hand, could have been a coincidence. However, they were working around it and could have by accident damaged it.

Let me know if you have other questions.
