Two months ago I noticed a burning smell coming from the sides of the vechile when I was at a complete stop. More time on a slope. I assumed that I needed new brakes. There was no scrubbing and my brake light was not on. I got new brakes and went to have them put on and was told that the pad that was already on hte car was still good. I need to know what is wrong so this can be fixed right away. Thank you!

Did you ask the tech to inspect the vehicle? Could be a fluid leak, a plastic bag on the exhaust. Do you notice and drops when parked? Any fluid loss?

I have not noticed any significant amount of fluid loss. I did monitor it for two days and after work there was one wet drop maybe two, no puddle or anything like that. And that was just the one time that I was actually able to see that. I have not taken it to be inspected by a mechanic.

Might want to have it looked at. Sometimes fluids only leak when the engine is running, they usually burn off due to engine heat
