I just had my right cv joint axles replaced because it was grinding bad when I turned right, but now my brakes are not right I noticed that they almost go to the floor when I go to stop and coming home from a short ride I noticed a slight burning smell almost like I left my emerency brake on and drove a couple of miles(not that I did this time but have before with another car)I have to tap it a couple of times to have it feel a little tighter. There is no noise when the brake is applied, when they replaced my axle and cv joint did they have to do anything to my brake system that would cause this problem?

They had to remove the caliper (hang it out of the way) and rotor as well as the bracket that holds the pads.
They may have ripped the flexible brake hose, or if they completely removed the caliper, they would need to bleed the brakes.
Inspect the brakes on the side the axle was replaced looking for any brake fluid leaks, at flexible hose, caliper connection to the flex hose and hard lines.
If you see any then have them repair it at their cost.

Whenever you replace the CV axle you should always replace the axle seal in the trans.
