Engine Performance problem
1999 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 102000 miles

I have the opportunity to purchase a 1999 Nissan Maxima with 102,000 miles for $4000. The car is in OUTSTANDING condition. It has not had it's 100,000 mile tune-up yet. It has had one owner, a fanatical old Korean lady who has never missed a (dealer) oil change. My local Nissan dealership will inspect it for $110 but I don't want to have the car inspected and then a week or month later have it tuned up. My questions are. 1> Is this a good deal? (Price vs. Miles) 2> Should I buy it without the Nissan dealer inspection and just take it in for a tune up?

I wont lie, thats a bit high for that many miles im sure you could get for 3500, I wouldnt pay more for that personally, as around here you can get a car lets say, just sold one a 2003 pontiac with 70,000 miles for 5000 dollars and it was in mint condition.

Try to talk her down a bit, or have a check done on the engine first, if it comes back good and they suggest the engine will last another 100,000 then go for it.
