1992 Nissan Maxima fuel sensor & exhaust

I have been told I have an exhaust leak at the manifold and it it tricking my fuel sensor and not letting out the correct amt of fuel causing my car to all of a sudden loose power and run very rough. Does the whole engine have to be removed to fix this problem?
