Hi, the engine of my nissan frontier seems like it will stumble most specially when it gets hot and seems like the engine dies when I release the gas pedal. I already replaced the rotor, distributor, sparkplug wires and sparkplugs, but still doing the same. What is the probable causes to this problem? There are fault codes #P0430 catalyst bank2, P0420 catayst bank1 and P0325 knock sensor problem. Unfortunately, I did not believed that this is the cause of this erratic and stumble behaviour. Thanks for the helping hand.

Hi supher31,

Thank you for the donation.

The trouble codes outlined could be the by product of a malfunction and the symptoms described seems to indicate a faulty MAF sensor.

Quite often the MAF malfunctions without registering any codes as it is working within specs but with the the wrong signal and is not detected as a malfunction by the engine computer.

Clean and test if the symptom changes. Replacement is necessary as cleaning would only be a temporary job.

It could be due to leaking valves. Do a wet test and if pressure does not increase, it could be due to leaking valves.

If you engine is VQ30DE, then you can check the valve clearance and adjust if necessary.

If any cylinder is faulty, you would have to remove the head or if piston ring faults, rebuilding is required.
