When engine is warm or idling then start and engine makes a loud roaring sound. Example would be after engine warm stopping at traffic light for two or three minutes and then moving engine makes loud sound until driving a mile or more.
Dealer states all diagnostics come back normal. Dealer states this is a fan clutch problem but nothing can be done since diagnostics are normal.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

The fan clutch operates based on engine compartment temperatures. It is normal, when the engine is hot, for it to make a roaring sound. Also, it is normal for the same noise to be heard for about a minute when the engine is started cold.

With the engine off and cold, open the hood and see if you can turn the fan blade. If you can, the clutch is good. If it cannot be turned or makes a funny metallic sound when turning, the clutch is bad.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
